In a dramatic ending the Dyersville Jurassics staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Chainsaw Proctologists by the count of 4 to 3.
Dyersville came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th
inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. Craig Wilson led off and started the
attack as he reached on an error. After an out was recorded, Shea
Hillenbrand came up and he stroked a one-base hit. Hillenbrand took second
on the throw. Kyle Farnsworth then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch
which plated a run. One out later, Matt Diaz stepped up to the plate and he
stroked a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Dyersville rapped
out 10 hits for the afternoon.
The win went to Brian Bannister(4-1) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Joe Nathan earned the save, his 15th. Farnsworth(2-4) was given the loss in
relief. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned
run in the game.
Jim Aldrich was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win it
in your last at bats! Our guys just wouldn't give up. And did you see the
fans - one minute they're laughing and screaming down all sorts of
unprintable stuff at our guys - the next minute - SILENCE! Yes sir, a very
enjoyable win this afternoon!'
